Umphrey's McGee have shared a holiday mashup of David Bowie’s "Space Oddity" with Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See" set to original lyrics about Santa Clause and Christmas. Listen to "Santa Oddity" above on YouTube.
The song was recorded at the 10th Annual Brendan & Jake Holiday Show, in 2011. Accompanied by bass and drums, the Umphrey's guitarists switch up the original lyrics with witty Christmas references. Towards the end, the song takes an unexpected turn into "Can't You See" before circling back to Bowie. It is an oddity, an odyssey, and a rarity, as it was only performed once and will likely never be performed again.
