The Avett Brothers played alongside Nickel Creek on the episode of Austin City Limits which aired on January 3rd. Check out this web exclusive video of "Satan Pulls the Strings" on YouTube above. The song debuted in 2014, and has not yet been released on an album.
The heart and soul of the 7 piece group really shines through in this performance. Tribal rhythms of drummer Mike Marsh move the listener from the beginning. The string section of Tania Elizabeth, Joe Kwon, and Bob Crawford play passionate melodies on their instruments, building upon the rhythm. Seth Avett kicks off the main verse as the group then comes together to cry out, "Devil's in my head!" Their emotion is raw and their energy is strong.
