While in Austin last week for SXSW, Schoolboy Q had Nardwuar stop by the house where he was staying for a characteristically entertaining interview. Watch it above.
First, Nardwuar gives Schoolboy gifts in the form of old pictures from his football days at West Los Angeles College, and three records. One of these is the "Bangin' on Wax" single by Bloods & Crips, and another is a Cheech and Chong record that contains allegedly rare rolling papers inside. At the end of the interview, Q rolls up a joint with these gargantuan papers and blazes it in front of the camera. Nardwuar seems honored that Q chose to smoke it on he spot, as he's given the record to other rappers before, but never seen them actually use the papers inside.
In typical fashion, Nardo also brings up some funny stories from Schoolboy's past. He first elicits a tale about Coco's Liquor Store in Los Angeles, where Q used to steal alcohol as a child, but the rapper says he recently paid the owner $200 out of the blue to repay her for his past delinquencies. Another interesting story stems from Q's high school days (where he earned the "Schoolboy" nickname for his 3.3 GPA), when his health teacher was the only one who would regularly fail him. He says he could have had a "3.8 or even 4.0" were it not for her, but also remembers her fondly, albeit in a different light -- "She had so much ass, dawg... I bet I could fuck now... Imma fuck her one day."
The interview ends with Q explaining just how much he "fucks with" Nardwuar (which, in case you were wondering, is due to Nardo being a "real nigga"), and of course, twisting up a fatty with the 40-year-old rolling paper. It's just what we've come to expect from Nardwuar, who could feasibly generate an entertaining interview with just about any animate being.
