Husker Dü alumnus Bob Mould performed a new song, "See A Little Light," on the Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his hit solo album Workbook. Along with his traditional backing band of bassist Jason Narducy and Mountain Goats / Superchunk drummer Jon Wurster, Mould added cellist Alison Chesley to the lineup, who introduces a smooth string part to the traditional alt-rock three-piece. Chesley, who has worked with Narducy in their previous acoustic duo Verbow, is set to appear with Mould and company for two sold out performances this weekend at Manhattan's City Winery.
"See A Little Light" has a straightforward REM-esque late eighties/early nineties alternative sound, and Mould's upbeat energy carries throughout the performance. If his upcoming June album Beauty & Ruin carries the same cool guitar effects and positive attitude as his classic work, the album will surely be another great addition to Mould's stellar career.
Beauty & Ruin is not yet available for pre-order, but you can find information and news about its upcoming release at Bob Mould's Official Website.
