Hatsune Miku is a video game character that's been turned into a hologram for live performances. Watch her performance of "Sharing the World" on The Late Show with David Letterman above, via YouTube.
You can see her performing with live musicians on stage, but obviously Hatsune Miku is pre-programmed. If you're wondering how the vocals were put together, Wikipedia tells us, "Hatsune's voice was created by taking vocal samples from voice actress Saki Fujita at a controlled pitch and tone. These different samples all contained a single Japanese or English phonic which, when strung together, would create full lyrics and phrases."
Is this the worst thing that has ever happened to music? Is this cool? Let us know what you think in the comments.
