LA indie-folk band Dawes performed an intimate acoustic set at the Meadowgrass Music Festival in Colorado last May as part of the Fuel/Friends blog chapel sessions. The videos of the performance were released today. Frontman Taylor Goldsmith led the set on guitar, accompanied by his brother, Griffin Goldsmith, and Tay Strathairn on backing vocals. Tucked inside a small chapel on the festival grounds, they played "Side Effects," "Someone Will," and "Hey Lover," all from their latest album Stories Don't End, which was released in April. You can purchase the album on vinyl through the band's official website, or digitally through iTunes.
If you're into simple and heartfelt folk performances, look no further. With only a guitar and their voices, the trio brings each of these songs to life. "Side Effects," is a soft, slow tearjerker showcasing Taylor Goldsmith's voice and tasteful, moody guitar melodies. "Someone Will" layers gorgeous harmonies over fast-paced guitar picking, and "Hey Lover," originally written by former Dawes band member Blake Mills, is a dreamy strummer with even more vocal magic. Don't miss this set, it's definitely something special.
