Pop-star and Katy Perry co-songwriter Bonnie McKee has released a new music video for her song "Sleepwalker," relating her very real horrors concerning sobriety and homelessness with the horrific imagery of a campy zombie film.
"Sleepwalker," a very radio-friendly single, is catchy pop, with very strong vocals that really show off her associations to Katy Perry, and an interesting synth background rhythm. The lyrics are surprisingly poignant, with lines like "I went to a bar, I felt nothing, I totaled my car, I felt nothing," pointing towards very real, personal traumas.
The video is a surprisingly violent narrative, with McKee teaming up with another female protaganist to escape a party that is host to a zombie outbreak. After the unnamed other is initially rescued, the two share a passionate kiss and escape the zombies, riding off into the moonlight. Par for the horror course, tragedy is quick to follow.
