Hiss Golden Messenger "Lucia" Live on WFUV 10.14.2014:

The performance of "Southern Grammar" was more unrefined than the album version. On the album, there is a heavy use of guitar effects, while at WFUV, the band only uses a slight distortion. MC Taylor's vocals place an emphasis on feeling over clarity, adding to the raw tone of the song. With the addition of a saxophone part, these aspects help enhance the bluesy quality of the performance.

"Lucia" had more of a smooth, country rock feeling to it. Although it does sound relatively close to the album version, the main difference is the absence of the organ finale. Instead, the song ends with a slide guitar solo. With these two live performances, the band maintains the core feeling of their songs while bringing something new to the listeners.
