Bruce Springsteen can truly make any song his own, and he proved it once again by opening his show in Brisbane, Australia with the Bee Gees' 1977 smash hit "Stayin' Alive." Check out the pro-shot, HD video above.
The performance starts in complete darkness, with the silhouettes of Springsteen and a lone horn player barely visible. The crowd stays quiet as they begin to play, but cheers erupt upon hearing the song's unmistakable opening line. The whole E Street Band joins in and the song is distinctly Springsteen, bolstered by the addition of excellent backup singers and a superb orchestral string section. Halfway through, each of the horn players steps forward for a solo -- trumpet, trombone, and sax -- before Tom Morello steps in and plays a blistering solo of his own.
The audience was thrilled and it's safe to say "Stayin' Alive" is an excellent addition to Bruce's already tremendous catalog. You can see the show's full setlist below.
