Today we have the pleasure of debuting an energetic new track from WOLF!, a Brooklyn-based instrumental rock trio. The band is led by guitarist Scott Metzger, a current member of Joe Russo's Almost Dead, occasional member of Phil Lesh & Friends, and former member of the jamtronica band Particle.
Titled "Steve Miller," the three minute song puts an upbeat twist on blues rock. Imagine The Rolling Stones' "Ventilator Blues" on speed, or if Chet Atkins was playing CBGB's in the early '80s and trying to match the thriving punk rock energy of the era. With wailing guitar riffs, fuzzy basslines, and a spirited drum pattern, WOLF! manages to put a cool new twist on a classic Americana style.
Metzger said of the song, "We did 'Steve Miller' in one take. It has a real hard and raw sound that reminds me of drag racing in the desert. One of my favorites on the record because it really features Jon and Taylor in our rhythm section."
