This week, The Rolling Stones released a deluxe version of their 1971 album Sticky Fingers. This deluxe reissue includes two discs: the original album, and a collection of previously unreleased studio and live material.

Sticky Fingers has long been considered one of The Stones' best albums. It peaked at #1 on the charts in nine countries and hit singles like "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses" are still rock radio staples. The core band of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts were all in their prime, and there isn't a weak song to be found here.

This was the first album that didn't feature any contributions from guitarist Brian Jones, who had passed away in 1969. He was replaced by Mick Taylor, giving the band more of a bluesy / country sound. We also hear saxophonist Bobby Keys coming into his own on tracks like "Can't You Hear Me Knocking." An all-star cast of sidemen including Ry Cooder, Jim Dickinson, Nicky Hopkins, Jack Nitzsche, Billy Preston, and Ian Stewart appear on the album, which was recorded in London, England and Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

The bonus disc consists of "Brown Sugar" featuring Eric Clapton, an acoustic take on "Wild Horses," an alternate version of "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," an extended version of "Bitch," and an alternate version of "Dead Flowers." There are also five songs from the band's 1968-1969 catalog recorded live at London's Roundhouse in March of 1971.

The "Super Deluxe Reissue" includes a third disc worth of live material, recorded at the University of Leeds in 1971.

The deluxe version of Sticky Fingers is available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3). You can also stream the full super deluxe album above, via Spotify.
