Demi Lovato gives a heart-wrenchingly beautiful performance in the visually stunning music video for her single, "Stone Cold," off her 2015 album, Confident. Check it out on YouTube above.
In the video, Lovato takes us on a journey through the emotions of love and loss. We hear her slowly and painfully chant through verses with lyrics like, "You see me standing, but I'm dying on the floor," met with chilling images of her fully clothed and crying in a bathtub. Lovato demonstrates one side of the internal struggle of dealing with heartbreak: the need to put on a strong face while we feel like we're dying inside.
It's not all destructive, though. Lovato also shows the other dimension of heartbreak where we pick up the pieces and become stronger. With the power-ballad chorus met with images of a sprawling snowy terrain shot on a mountain in Utah, Lovato appears triumphant while she belts through the emptiness of her environment, "I'll take the pain, give me the truth, me and my heart, we'll make it through." Even though she is heartbroken, there's hope. Despite her tears, she remains strong.
Lovato told Radio.com, "During the shooting I channeled my emotion into it and I just went there. And when yelled ‘Cut’ I almost couldn’t stop crying cause I really went to a place of like—just letting my self feel.”
She also went on to say that "Stone Cold" is her favorite song off her fifth studio album Confident and it's resulting video is the most emotional she's ever shot. We feel you, Demi.
