The Head and the Heart have just released a video for "Summertime" off of last year's Let's Be Still, released through Sub Pop Records.
The Chad VanGaalen-directed video is animated using stop-motion with paper figures. The story follows a bird watcher and a mycologist studying the beautiful, popup book-like environment. Things take a turn for the worse when both characters start to decompose into the earth. Birds start to eat the bird watcher's face and mushrooms start to grow out of the mycologist.
The song is a combination of synth pop and folk rock. A synthesizer soars over a mid-tempo beat as vocalist Charity Rose Thielen sings, "Summertime, I'll make you mine, 'cause I need healin' for a hollow wound with room for two." On the bridge, the band changes tempo, transitioning into a blues rock. Check out the video above.
