What could be a better setting for an angrier-than-ever Eminem song than a war-torn CGI landscape? Probably nothing.
Just as his uplifting call-to-arms "Not Afraid" was brilliantly chosen to soundtrack the 2010 NBA Finals, Eminem again reveals himself to be a savvy marketer by premiering "Survival" via a Call of Duty commercial.
"Survival" seems tailor-made for tie-ins, abound with lyrical clichés ("survival of the fittest," "it ain't over 'til I say it's over," and "winner takes all") that could accompany anything marketed to competitive teenage boys, who have always been Eminem's main demographic.
Though Jay Z may still be hip hop's king of corporate sponsorship, Eminem certainly gives him a run for his money with "Survival," which will be featured on the soundtrack of Call of Duty: Ghosts, out November 5th.
