Exmag and Branx are releasing their collaborative EP today. Titled Plants & Animals, the 8-song effort dives all over the electronic music spectrum and includes influences of funky neo-soul, '80s disco, '90s hip hop, and even stoner metal.
We're happy to premiere one of the tracks off the EP, "Swoop." This one definitely falls on the '80s side of things, as the retro beat sounds like something we'd want to hear in a vintage video game. Can you imagine if Sega put mad money into the music for Sonic? I would jump all over Doctor Eggman to this one.
The song starts with dancey beat, which dives deep into synth-heavy production and, occasionally, guitar-led half time. The instrumental melts jazz fusion, future funk, and disco, which has become a staple of Exmag and Branx's sound as of late.
