"Tennis Court" by Lorde live on SiriusXM:
"The Love Club" by Lorde live on SiriusXM:
Lorde performed live with her 2 man band at the SiriusXM studios and they've been kind enough to put the videos up on YouTube for all of us. Perhaps wishing to shed the perception that she's a one-hit wonder, there's no "Royals" here. This is for the radio station, The Spectrum, which claims that it "spans the past, present and future with adult album rock artists." I'm not sure how a 16 year old making electronic pop can be lumped in with adult album rock, but what do I know? Perhaps they think of "rock" as more of a concept than an actual musical style, but who in their right mind would call this "adult album rock"??
The music is solid, but the camerawork is not. The video is truly awful, which you might expect from a radio company like SiriusXM. Some shots are out of focus, and throughout the performance the main camera seems wobbly. Also, there's lots of extreme close-ups where Lorde's face doesn't even fit in the frame. Still, these are cool performances and Lorde is definitely a special talent with a unique voice as a songwriter.
