Bruce Springsteen contributed to Bono's agit8 campaign with a solo acoustic version of "The Promised Land." Springsteen performed the stripped-down rendition of his classic song at Camden Lock in London.
The agit8 campaign calls on famous musicians and regular people to record live performances of protest songs in order to raise awareness for global poverty. Mumford & Sons, Kid Rock, U2, and many other artists have joined in the effort and recorded songs for agit8. The campaign comes in anticipation of the annual G8 summit in the UK, and it aims to persuade the G8 leaders to take substantive action against poverty around the world.
