Noel Gallagher's 2015 album Chasing Yesterday is one of my personal favorite rock albums of the year so far, and "The Right Stuff" is a big reason why. They spacey psychedelic opening with luscious guitar, bass, drums, and horns sets the table for the album's climax as Gallagher sings the soothing refrain, "You and I got the right stuff." The psychedelic video is a good pair for the song, but perhaps a little too jumpy to be a perfect match. The song itself is awesome. The bassline is British space rock gold, and Jim Hunt's work on saxophone and bass clarinet reminds me of my favorite stuff from great jazz albums by Miles Davis and John Coltrane. The vocals are what send this track into instant classic status to me.
Two days ago, The Daily Mirror published a report citing unnamed sources that Noel and Liam Gallagher "have buried hatchet and are planning comeback ." We'll believe it when we see it.
