On Thursday night, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers performed three songs for Jimmy Kimmel Live, and to talk about their newest album, Hypnotic Eye. The performances took place from the bands rehearsal space in Culver City, California. You can watch the performances and interview above.
In the lighthearted interview, Petty ouches on the topic of his upcoming tour, what his favorite city to perform in is, and why the album Hypnotic Eye has three sides instead of four. It's a short clip that draws you into Petty's humor and makes you want to hear more questions.
Kicking off with the rock and roll swagger sound of "American Dream Plan B," the camera closes in multiple times on Petty's face (has he aged at all?) and some clear distance shots of the band entertaining the crowd.
Switching to a turquoise Fender telecaster, Petty leads the band into "Forgotten Man," a drum / bass driven song with plenty of energy. Closing out the live music segment is the sultry steady beat of "U Get Me High."
