Father John Misty has a new music video from his 2017 album Pure Comedy. Watch the aptly titled "Total Entertainment Forever" above.
The man otherwise known as Josh Tillman has imagined a future where people use virtual reality to take Taylor Swift to bed. In the music video, we see someone play a video game as Kurt Cobain (portrayed by none other than '90s child star Macaulay Culkin), experiencing torture and starring in Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" video, with a few twists along the way. Much like the album, there are laugh-out-loud moments. The real world implications are often depressing, and yet somehow life affirming.
"Total Entertainment Forever" is one of the most happy and upbeat-sounding songs on the LP, and the full instrumentation adds a soulful vibe with horns, piano, bass, drums, and of course acoustic guitar. The full Pure Comedy album is streaming for free on YouTube, courtesy of Sub Pop Records, and has some visual elements you won't get on purely audio streaming services.
