Watch this previously unreleased footage of The Doors performing their hit song, "Touch Me," on the short-lived American variety show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. With support from the renowned Nelson Riddle Orchestra, the L.A. rock n' roll group put on a near-flawless performance...suspiciously flawless, perhaps.

According to Wikipedia, Doors' vocalist Jim Morrison mimed the all of the lyrics over a pre-recorded backing track and saxophonist Curtis Amy apparently used the same tactic for his sax solo. Although not verified by Wikipedia, drummer John Densmore may have done the same. If you look closely at the percussionist between 3:00 and 3:08, something seems a bit off.

This 1968 footage of "Touch Me" is just one of eighteen previously unreleased performances that have been compiled for an official DVD, titled R-Evolution. It will be available for purchase on November 25th of this year, but you can visit Amazon to pre-order now. For all you die-hard Doors fans, there is a Deluxe Edition available for pre-order that includes song lyrics, background information, trivia, and photos. See below for the tracklisting of select performances included in the DVD.
