British singer-songwriter Jessie Ware is starting to make waves in the international music scene, especially after the release of her latest single "Tough Love."
Ware stopped by the Radio 6 Music studio and had a lengthy chat with Lauren Laverne, also treating listeners to live performances of "Tough Love" and "Wildest Moments."
Easing her way into the interview, Ware opened up about her new single, planning her upcoming wedding, as well as buying Ed Sheeran a salad from Whole Foods.
Ware announced that apart from singing "Tough Love" live in Poland, this is the only time she's sung it live. In her own words, she said she'd give it her best because it sits in a very high part of her voice. The beautifully stripped down version of "Tough Love," supported by a keyboard, was spell-binding, and if Ware was in anyway struggling, it didn't appear so. Ware said she has grown up quite a lot and gained more confidence since her first album, Devotion, and is now starting to feel more comfortable with the fact that music is her job.
Leading up to her performance of "Wildest Moments," Ware described the story behind one of the most common songs from her debut album. She said it is about a fight she had with her best friend, which escalated into a food fight. She went on to explain that they have since made up, and her friend is in fact her maid-of-honor.
Again, the acoustic version of "Wildest Moments" was heartfelt and mesmerizing, and we at Zumic cannot wait for her to tour the US. To hear the song, fast-forward to 24:30 in the above player.
The singer's second album Tough Love, which is produced by Benzel, is set to be released on October 6. In the meantime, be sure to tune to her Zumic artist page for all the latest in music, news, and tour dates.
