Last week Mason Ramsey released "Twang," his first original music in nearly a year. The song was released with a fun music video featuring the young singer trying to impress his crush at school. Watch above on YouTube.

Ramsey demonstrates his traditional country style not only by wearing a cowboy hat and boots, but also through his lyrics and vocal inflection. The chorus begins, "She loves me for my twang, Reminds her of a little Hank," referencing Ramsey's titular "Twang" and offering a nod to the legendary country singer Hank Williams — whose "Lovesick Blues" was the basis for Ramsey's rapid rise to internet fame last year when a video of him singing in a Walmart went viral.

The song — produced by Joey Moi and Dave Cohen and co-written by the team of Brian Kelley, Ernest K Smith, Hunter Phelps, and Jordan Schmidt — does a great job showing off the 12-year-old's undeniable yodeling talent as he sings about being on the ray-dee-ay-dee-o.

With over a million views of the music video within its first week, Mason Ramsey is proving that he's more than just a meme. 60+ years after Hank Williams passed away, a lot has changed in the world of country music, but that classic "Twang" will never go out of style.

Mason Ramsey's music is available on Amazon and major streaming services.
