Lana Del Rey has been pretty quiet lately, but she participated in a very cool awards ceremony for Breakthrough Prizes in Physics and Life Sciences. The event took place at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California (the heart of Silicon Valley), and airs on television this Monday, January 27th at 9 pm on the Science Channel. On the Science Channel's website, they explain the awards:

The 2014 Breakthrough Prizes are awarded to those who make major breakthroughs and contributions that represent significant advances in our fundamental knowledge of the world. At the ceremony, seven prizes (six for life sciences and one for physics) of $3 million each will be awarded for a total of $21 million.

Another nice perk is this stunning performance by Lana Del Rey. Kevin Spacey can also be seen doing her introduction, as he hosted the event. The performance is excellent, with piano, guitar, and string accompaniment. Lana has certainly come a long way in the last couple years, since her television debut on Saturday Night Live where she was heavily criticized for singing off pitch and showed signs of being uncomfortable. Hopefully more good things are to come in this young lady's future.
