Los Angeles singer Banks is definitely someone to watch. After her last video for "Warm Water," the songstress is back with a new video for "Waiting Game." The song starts with fragile vocals over a driving piano, but after the first chorus, the song becomes heavy, anchored by a pounding drumbeat. The lyrics further the mood, describing fears about a troubled relationship. Banks wonders, "What if the way we started made it something cursed from the start?" The combination of music and vulnerable lyrics makes "Waiting Game" both mesmerizing and dark. It's a stunning track, and the video is similarly gripping.
The video is shot in black and white, showing a man walking in the night and shots of Banks, looking tormented in her uncertainty. They are backdropped by glistening snowflakes, fitting for a song in which she asks, "What if it only gets colder?"
"Waiting Game" will appear on Banks' new EP, entitled London, due out on September 10th. This September and October, Banks will also be opening for The Weeknd on his upcoming North American tour. You can find specific dates and tickets on Ticketmaster now.
