Rolling Stone has this incredible exclusive 1973 performance of Sly and the Family Stone playing "I Wanna Take You Higher" in some sort of rehearsal or impromptu private video session. If you like funk, you will probably get a kick out of seeing Sly Stone rocking the organ and the harmonica. Plus, the whole band starting things off with a soul clap and Larry Graham playing bass in that revolutionary style and just an overall great vibe. Look at that 'fro! Look at that jump suit! Wowza.

Last week, Epic / Legacy Records released a four CD box set featuring alternative versions, rare mono masters, instrumental mixes, and live recordings of Sly and the Family Stone's catalog - including the hits like "I Wanna Take You Higher." Check it out on iTunes and Amazon.
