Hans Zimmer felt that one drummer wouldn't be enough for his soundtrack for Man of Steel. So, he decided to go with 12 instead. The combined sound of the 12 drummers gave the score the pounding, forceful rhythm it needed to overwhelm the listener with the power that Superman would imply.

The drummers chosen are among the top session drummers in the world, including Matt Chamberlain, Josh Freeze, Danny Carey, John "JR" Robinson, Jason Bonham, Satnam Ramgotra, Toss Panos, Jim Keltner, and Vinnie Colaiuta. Sheila E. (who worked with Prince and is known for out-drumming Ringo Starr during her time with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band) and Pharrell Williams (who seems to be doing everything with everyone everywhere these days) were also chosen to participate.

You can get the entire Man of Steel soundtrack on iTunes.
