"Water Fountain" - tUnE-yArDs on The Tonight Show 5.9.2014 [Video]

Merrill Garbus brought the schoolyard charm of "Water Fountain" to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The performance of the Nikki Nack song starts out with unaccompanied handclaps -- which Garbus loops as the backing track -- before kicking into a layer cake of cool rhythms and vocal harmonies. As the song progresses, they recreate some of the children's TV magic they had in the music video, including trippy video segments and anthropomorphic furniture. For the end of the tune, The Roots flood the stage with percussion of their own, creating a totally unique sound and bolstering the organic rhythms of the original track. Check out the video above.
