The collaboration between Eddie Van Halen and LL Cool J has been leaked on youtube. Titled "We Are The Greatest", the song features shred-tastic guitar work and a pretty hard flow. The guitar playing really is good. As we previously reported, Eddie has been recovering from health issues that forced Van Halen to cut their 2012 tour short. Welcome back!
I'm on a hacksaw tour
Eddie got Frankenstein aimed at the door
Speakers under the stage lift you off 'a the floor*
Why? Cuz music is the end to the war

We've learned to not judge leaked audio like this too harshly, but that Eddie Van Halen Frankenstein guitar sound leaves us wanting more. The sound is kinda poor. In this preview, it sounds cold, flat, and thin. Hopefully they can run that through a fat 5150 tube amp and re-record it to give it some depth and color. If I was producer, I'd also probably get a woman to belt out that chorus... LL Cool J's voice is sounding strained on that high note. The verses are cool.
The LL Cool J album, Authentic, is set for release on April 30th. He'll be headlining the Kings of the Mic tour with Public Enemy, Ice Cube, and De La Soul from May 23rd to July 5th.
Van Halen News Desk also reports that Eddie will be featured on a 2nd track with Fitz and the Tantrums called "Not Leaving You Tonight". Rock and roll!

*LL Cool J: Rhyming door with floor? It's a bit of a bore. Get to the core! Play up the lore! Make the crowds roar! Clapping so much their hands will get sore.
