Here's our second taste of what will be included on the upcoming Fare Thee Well box sets containing professional audio and video from the Grateful Dead's concerts on July 3, 4, and 5, 2015. Watch the band play a nearly ten minute version of "West L.A. Fadeaway" above, via the Grateful Dead's official YouTube.
This performance highlights the smooth vocal delivery Bruce Hornsby can bring as he tickles the ivories. RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti adds uplifting organ playing, and Trey lends stellar guitar playing that doesn't feel forced or overshadow the song's rhythm. Bruce is no stranger to the music of the Grateful Dead, having played over 100 shows with the band from 1988 to 1995.
Previously, the band shared a high energy version of "Truckin'."
You can pick up the super deluxe box sets exclusively on the Grateful Dead's online store: 12 CD / 7 DVD or 12 CD / 7 Blu-ray. Fare Thee Well box sets are also available for pre-order on Amazon (Blu-Ray, DVD, and CD). The collection is set for a November 20, 2015 release.
The Grateful Dead recently released an 80 CD box set titled 30 Trips Around the Sun: The Definitive Years (1965-1995), containing over 73 hours of music from the dead’s 30 year career, and including one previously unreleased live concert from each year. It's currently available on Amazon (CD, MP3). You can also stream the abridged collection for free here on Zumic.
