Above, you can watch the music video for Jerry Garcia's "The Wheel" directed and created by Justin Kreutzmann (son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann). The tune is from Jerry Garcia's 1972 debut solo album, Garcia, and became a mainstay in Grateful Dead concerts beginning in 1976.
While the simmering pedal steel song plays, images of Jerry playing guitar, handwritten song lyrics, and cover art from Jerry's solo album are displayed. Still photos of Mr. Garcia are also shown, highlighting the kindness in his eyes and the positivity of his smile. Justin Kreutzmann, who's now the Chief Creative Officer at Bob Weir's TRI Studios, does a wonderful job of creating a dreamlike, and somewhat psychedelic feel to the video.
Jerry Garcia's solo catalog is not available to stream on Spotify, but you can pick it up on Amazon.com.
