Elvis Costello was the special musical guest on last night's Late Show with David Letterman, where the crooner performed a medley of Nick Lowe’s "When I Write the Book" and his own song "Everyday I Write the Book." It was his 27th performance on the legendary late night talk show. Watch his performance above.
Supported by vocal group The Quills, Costello gives a warm and soulful performance. The harmony vocals of The Quills add a doo-wop touch to Costello's storytelling vocals and acoustic strumming. The transition between the two songs is seamless, and Dave is more than impressed after their performance.
Costello's latest music endeavor has been The New Basement Tapes. Last November, the band released Lost On The River, a collection of songs created from recently discovered Bob Dylan lyrics. You can stream that album here on Zumic. Lost On The River is available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
Costello will be hitting the road with Steely Dan for a lengthy summer tour. For more information on that, as well as his latest music and news, check out his Zumic artist page.
