Shoe manufacturer Converse is releasing Noise To The World 2, their second annual holiday music compilation. Today, Deer Tick shared their song "White Havoc" which will be part of the collection. Listen to it in the audio stream above.
When a band writes an original Christmas song, they can fall into the trap of sounding cheesy. Deer Tick tackled this challenge by taking the route of absurdity. The main melody of the song sounds like Janis Ian's "At Seventeen," which gives the track a melancholic yet campy pop sound. At one point in the recording, you can hear the band singing with high-pitched vocals, "You're my bad dad," which comes off as hilariously creepy. Essentially, the band trolled holiday pop music.
