In an email today, Wilco announced that on the first night of their Solid Sound festival will be made up entirely of fan selected tunes, both covers and originals. This interesting twist includes a promise by the band to learn at least 50 songs and that 20 of them will be selected at random and played live. The festival takes place June 21st-23rd in Northhampton, Mass:

In addition, the encore will be chosen via twitter and a John Hodgeman-led live version of "Stump the Band" in which “audience members will request songs and attempt to stump the band, a variation on the original ‘Stump the Band’ segment featured on The Tonight Show,” according to the email. Hodgeman will also be ellicting audience attempts to "Stump the Band", all of which promises to make for a wild first evening. Who says Tweedy is no fun?

Earlybird priced tickets are available at solidsoundfestival.com for two more days.
