Chicago garage rockers Twin Peaks are set to release their second album, Wild Onion, August 8th. You can stream the record above via Spotify.

On Wild Onion, Twin Peaks recall classic '60s pop-rock, and mix it with modern garage rock sensibilities. When listening to the record, the influence of bands like The Beach Boys are as prevalent as those from current garage rock bands like Thee Oh Sees. There is even a song, "Sloop Jay D," whose title pays a not-so-subtle homage to The Beach Boys' classic "Sloop John B"

The instrumentals on the record are fuzzy, upbeat, and summery, but there's a lot of variety. Tracks like "Strawberry Smoothie" and "Flavor" are riotous and raucous, while others like "Sweet Thing" and "Ordinary People" take a more laid-back approach. "Stranger World" showcases some jazzy, psychedelic influences with the incorporation of horns and swirling atmospherics. It makes for a fascinating album where each track stands out on its own and demonstrates a different style.

The press release described Wild Onion as:

A record that reveals a level of maturity beyond all the amp-singeing solos, ragtag rhythms and dizzying voices of three distinct singer-songwriters. Unlike acts who let their egos get in the way, Cadien, Clay and Jack share the spotlight and play to one another’s strengths as Connor keeps things moving with a steady beat.
