Today, April 20th, Jack Johnson released a lighthearted tribute to one of the most iconic country musicians — and stoners — of all time: Willie Nelson.
Quoting the country star legend himself, Johnson claims that "a great song is just three chords and the truth." This is just that, simple and honest. It tells the tale of a tragic poker game — lost fortune, lost pride, and a lost stream of consciousness, all adding up to a magical night worth more than the sum of its parts. Johnson stresses that it was "a real honor" to spend the evening with Nelson and that this song is "a true story about that night."
Johnson first shared the song at Farm Aid in 2015, reading the lyrics directly from a sheet of paper.
