L.A.-based producer, Shlohmo, dropped his most recent work today: a masterful remix of HAERTS' "Wings" from the bands 2013 debut album, Hemiplegia. The original soaring pop tune, which you can find below, is perfectly deconstructed and rebuilt into a dark, stomping anthem.
In theme with the much of his previous material, Shlohmo gives "Wings" a heavy dose of bass and chopped-up vocals, gradually tranforming Nini Fabi's powerful vocal line into somewhat of a desperate background echo. A snapping and relentless snare drum directs the listener in and out of sections, gradually moving through the track's peaks and valleys. Altogether, it makes for a menacing yet mournful piece that's definitely worth a listen. It's also available as a free download via SoundCloud, so may as well take advantage of the opportunity.
