Today, Neil Young has shared the second music video that features his collaboration with Lukas Nelson and Promise Of The Real. Their album, titled The Monsanto Years, will be out at the end of the month. Watch their music video for "Wolf Moon" above, via Neil Young's YouTube.
Neil shared some thoughts on his Facebook page about the song:
Earth is not ours. We are of the Earth. That's how I feel. When we plunder our own home we hurt our children and their children after them. I feel responsible. I like to say thank you for the precious gift we have, so when the Wolf Moon rose, I said thank you with this little song.
The opening clip shows the song's title being added to the Teatro marquee. The Teatro is an old movie theater in Oxnard, California where the guys recorded The Monsanto Years in early 2015. It's also where Lukas Nelson's dad, Willie, recorded the album Teatro in 1998 with producer Daniel Lanois.
"Wolf Moon" is a gentle ballad that harkens back to Neil Young's Harvest Moon days. Gentle acoustic strumming is paired with Neil's weathered vocals and familiar harp playing. The lyrics are very visual, and the song's tempo is relaxing enough to enjoy on a dark night under a full moon.
Neil Young & Promise Of The Real will begin a three-week tour at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 5. You can find more information about that here on Zumic.
The first single from the album was "A Rock Star Bucks A Coffee Shop."
