The latest in a long line of James Bond theme songs by pop artists has now been released. Above, you can watch the music video for Sam Smith's "Writing's On The Wall" via YouTube. The video includes clips from the upcoming movie Spectre.

The signature Bond sound is all over this track, with lush orchestration and a dynamic feel between heavy emotion and playful mystery. The strings and horns are huge, while a simple piano line has a sense of vulnerability. Smith co-wrote the track with Jimmy Napes, and co-produced the track with Napes and brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence of Disclosure.

Genius.com reports that in an interview on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, Smith said, “It’s the quickest song I’ve ever written. The actual vocal on the song is my demo.” Perhaps he should have taken a little more time to work on it and push it to the next level. It isn't necessarily a bad tune, but the lyrics and the vocal performance are certainly weak compared to Adele's "Skyfall," the most recent Bond theme song, which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2012.

Spectre is due to hit theaters in the UK on October 26, and worldwide on November 6, 2015. This is the fourth Bond film to feature Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond.
