Last night on The Tonight Show, Janelle Monae ditched her signature tuxedo for a crown and high-waisted stretch pants. This dramatic change in appearance also accompanied her controversial new single, "Yoga." While some insist the song is about female empowerment, others see it as sexually exploitative and generic.
Monae, The Roots, and her dancers flood the stage of Jimmy Fallon, striking yoga poses in between other moments of booty shakes and celebratory freestyle dancing during a chorus that says, "Baby bend over, let your booty do that yoga." Jidenna makes an appearance halfway through the song, joining Monae and her girls on stage as the song repeats the chorus line before fading out.
