The Flaming Lips certainly gave fans plenty bang for their buck at SXSW this year. Not only did the band perform their new record in it's entirety, they also played 2002's amazing Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots in it's entirety for the first time ever.
The Lips were joined by Daniel Huffman (aka New Fumes) and Jake Ingalls (of Space Face) for the performance and the two extra players allowed them to visit new arrangements of a few of their staples as well as bust out a few rarities and songs that were seemingly retired from the live show. All of this is very ambitious and exciting and it's made even cooler by the fact that the video is available.
Yoshimi was recently transformed into a musical and debuted at the La Jolla Playhouse in November of 2012 and there are currently talks about bringing the production to Broadway, fingers crossed on that one. The Lips' new record The Terror is due out April 16th.
