Bassnectar just released his new single "You & Me," and it has the sound of a classic summertime anthem. The hard-hitting, trance-inspired track opens with a guitar melody reminiscent of The Who's 1971 classic "Baba O'Reilly," and features vocals from W Darling.

Bassnectar, or Lorin Ashton, is a 36-year-old artist based in Santa Cruz known for using breakbeat and dubstep styles. Both of these styles are used only minimally in the song, which Ashton told Rolling Stone is his "anthem."

"It's a love song, but it's about friendship and family," Bassnectar says, "It's about those basic human bonds of trust and loyalty, the feeling you get when you have a friend who will stand by you through thick and thin, no matter what, until the end."

"You & Me" will serve as the first single off of Bassnectar's June 24th release, Noise Vs. Beauty, which you can pre-order on itunes. Ashton will have a lot of opportunity to build the hype NVSB having slated summer festival appearances at Summer Camp, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld.
