Even though Charles Bradley's story from homelessness to top billing soul singer has been well documented by now, it doesn't make it any less remarkable. Bradley's 2013 sophomore effort Victim Of Love was a continuation of that story, showing the artist moving forward from his debut in a maturation of a sound that is at once both fresh and nostalgic.
Today, he released a new single off Love, "You Put The Flame On It", a track that is part The Temptations' "The Way You Do The Things You Do" part James Brown's "Stay With Me Tonight". In other words, it's an amazing track. Bradley is backed as always by fellow Daptone Records' mates the Menahan Street Band and his voice fits perfectly into the horn stabs and moving bass line of the music. He's found his home with Daptone and we hope he stays awhile.
Along with the single, Daptone also released a behind the scenes video of Charles Bradley where he talks vulnerability and his passion for music. Truly inspiring. After the video, scroll down to see where Bradley will be this summer so you can see him for yourself.
