Veteran soul singer Mavis Staples has released a new song titled "Your Good Fortune," off the upcoming EP of the same name. The four-song effort is set to release on April 21, 2015 on ANTI- Records.

The new song is a bluesy R&B affair with revved up production. The drums sound as if they may even be programmed, giving the track a hip hop vibe similar to the Alabama Shake's recent output or some of the Daptone Records material. Of course, Mavis has been doing her thing long before either of those camps have existed, but it's still awesome to see her come out with something so contemporary 65 years into her career.

The Your Good Fortune EP will feature two new songs written by producer Son Little along with a cover of blues classic "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean" and the gospel tune "Wish I Had Answered." Mavis Staples had this to say on the EP:

I’m always excited to do new songs and this young man wrote two just for me. Seemed like we were a team made in heaven. He writes from his heart; he’s a great singer who sings from his heart, and he reached my heart. I’m so glad we got to work together.

Your Good Fortune is available for pre-order on Amazon (CD, MP3).
