Jazz pianist Scott Bradlee and his Postmodern Jukebox have been putting awesome videos on YouTube for years. Watch their jazz cover of the White Stripes' colossal hit song "Seven Nation Army," featuring vocalist Haley Reinhart.
From the opening bass line, the song is a laid-back take on the ferocious intensity of Jack White's 2003 classic. Bradlee's slick piano gives way to woozy horns that give the vibe described by the band as a "New Orleans funeral march." It's also got a lounge feel, reminiscent of Duke Ellington's work with Billie Holiday. Reinhart's performance oozes sex appeal, as she pushes her voice from soft and sweet to a deep growl. Great musicianship all around, including a nice trombone solo from Lemar Guillary.
The song appears on the band's most recent album, Swipe Right For Vintage, which was released in July of 2015. Check it out on Amazon and Spotify.
