Rap pioneer Erick Sermon hits the streets of New York with Method Man & Redman for the visuals for his latest song "Clutch." The song is featured on his latest album E.S.P. (Erick Sermon's Perception), which was released on September 25th. Watch the video above, via YouTube.
"Clutch" features the three rappers trading ferocious verses over a funky, old school beat. In the hook, Sermon seemed to be making a slight reference to the injustice and violence African-Americans face everyday. He raps:
But we strapped with an automat'
Just in case they act up we fighting back
Sorry Martin
I ain't the one startin'
I'm home chillin'
I gotta cook and do homework with my children
Directed by Littles & Redman, the video features Erick, Red, & Meth dressed in suits, passing out pamphlets, and preaching to the youth. It also looks like the three rap veterans are championing a campaign trail. If they are, they have our vote!
The sample comes from Ethiopian jazz artist Alèmayèhu Eshèté's "Kènoru lèbetchahé," which was also sampled by Oh No for the Mos Def track "Forever Alive."
