"Dip"

Recently, Danny Brown showed up to WNYC headquarters to perform "Dip," "Dope Song" and "Lonely," and give a short interview. Watch his performance of "Dip." above.

It's somewhat odd to see Brown performing some of his more amped-up material while seated -- then again, the idea of him recreating one of his energetic live shows in a small radio station's studio seems equally weird. Whatever the case, Brown delivers his bars perfectly while SKYWLKR drops beats and becomes the first professional DJ I've ever seen to use iPhone headphones during a live set (another strange choice).

"Dope Song"

It all comes together on "Lonely" (below), a song that rarely sees the light of day in Brown's live sets, as the Detroit MC closes his eyes and recites the song's introspective lyrics with palpable honesty.

During his visit, Brown was also interviewed about his hometown, inspirations, and new album Old. At one point, he says that mistakenly buying clean versions of albums makes him want to "slip in the bathtub on purpose." What a guy. Listen to the show's full audio, including all three songs and the interview, below.

Check out a Danny Brown song from 2011 that just surfaced last week, and be sure to stop by his Zumic artist page for more info on the eccentric rapper.
