Macklemore adds to his catalog of ballads with the release of the powerful track "Drug Dealer." The song is featured in his documentary Prescription for a Change: Ending America's Opioid Crisis, which aired last night on MTV and featured President Barack Obama.
Set with a backdrop of calm piano keys and ethereal vocals,"Drug Dealer" has Macklemore tackling one of the United States' largest problems: Pharmaceutical drug addiction. Up-and-comer Ariana DeBoo delivers a powerful hook to go along with the music, but never detracts the listener from the imagery of Macklemore's lyrics.
Macklemore, also known as Ben Haggerty, has had a long history with prescription drug use and offers some valid insight at the corruption within Pharmaceuticals when it comes to classifying the addictive qualities of these drugs, as well as discussing his own personal demons.
