With the newly released music video "What Went Down," English indie band Foals seem to be foreshadowing a more aggressive record than we've ever seen from them. Straying from their more melodic, math-rock tendencies, the band seem to taking steps toward a heavier sound. In an interview with NME, here's what frontman Yannis Philippakis had to say:

I wanted to tap into my inner madman and feel like I was channelling some sort of fevered creature. I wanted to relish the mania, and what ended up happening – looking back at certain passages in some songs – is pretty intense in a way that I wouldn't have ever been able to plan.

High energy, cranked guitars, and a series of seemingly disjointed events make up the music video. Everything comes together, however, at the end, and the final scenes make us feel as if we missed a step. Moments of the band performing in a dingy white room are also scattered throughout, and the performance gets more and more chaotic as the music builds.

Look for Foals' fourth record, also titled What Went Down, out August 28, 2015. Their last album, Holy Fire is available on Amazon (Vinyl,CD, MP3).
