Calvin Harris seems to be aiming for a bit of wish fulfillment these days, releasing his new single "Summer" in the closing days of the opposite season. This is the first song the Scottish producer has released as a solo artist since his 2012 breakthrough album 18 Months, which featured his biggest hit song "Feel So Close" and seven other hit singles that all reached the top 10 in UK charts.
"Summer" follows a similar structure to "Feel So Close," with a repetitive lyrical verse sung throughout the track separated by sweeping synthesizer interlude. There's not a crazy amount of variety, as there's only these two parts without much change in dynamics or structure, but for a dance track it satisfies the craving.
Harris has not yet announced whether "Summer" will be part of a new album or if it is just a single, but its existence puts his status as a talented pop producer back prominently in the public eye. For now, the song is available for purchase on iTunes. For more music and news, check out Calvin Harris' Zumic Artist Page.
